Lake Street Dive

GGM was introduced to the groovy group, Lake Street Dive though good friend Brock Hard. After one song we were hooked and excited to listen to and review their new album, “Free Yourself Up”. This album is a mix of resounding, lusty vocals, funky guitar riffs, country steel guitar, creative lyrics and a reminiscent Motown feel that makes you want to dance and call your ex.

The 10 track album is a an eclectic mix of upbeat, chill and groovy all recorded into a vinyl package(you can get in on LP if you’re cool like that.) The songs are woven with modern sounds, multiple instruments, harmonies and Rachael Price’s lead vocals. Each song is unique but fits in with the narrative of Lake Street Dive. “Good Kisser” is their outbreak song of the album with the perfect mix of melody, lyrics and “tongue in cheek.” It gets you tapping your feet and yearning for more from this group. I’ve listened to it on repeat for a week and I’m listening to “You Are Free” right now, it’s my second favorite on the album.

If you’re wondering why you haven’t heard of this band before, I don’t have an answer for you, maybe you’re a recluse or don’t have a music playing device? That’s what I’m here for to help you and make you a groovier person. Below are the links to all of the ways to buy and listen to the album, so do that right now and up your cool points! Itunes
